Me and Max

On this day when Pres. Obama is headed to Ground Zero, Max and I were talking about 9/11 and he asked what is now where the WTC buildings once were. I told him there were going to be memorial pools.
MAX: What's a memorial?
ME: It's a thing or a place where we go to remember somebody.
MAX: Oh, like the Lincoln memorial.
ME: Exactly!
MAX: And like the Baltimore memorial.
ME: [Thinking, thinking, thinking] Ohhhhhh, you mean the Baltimore Orioles?
MAX: Yes.
ME: They are a baseball team, not a memorial.

Well, now I know my first new year's resolution

Max: daddy, you belly is bigger than...
Me [thinking this is where he was going with this train of thought]: Bigger than whose?
Max: Just bigger than it used to be.

Max overhearing me ordering dinner

Max: "Daddy, why did you just tell that person on the phone you wanted a 'crazy salad'?"
Me: "I didn't.  That was a 'caprese salad'".

Max to one of his friends, a child of divorce with a new stepmom, regarding the new stepmom

"Why did you rotate to somebody new?"

Max: Mommy, what's heaven?
Me: Jenn, you can feel free to field this question.
